Drake has posted a succinct response to the praise he received from Erykah Badu during her recent shows at the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

As you may have seen on Instagram, Badu shared an Okayplayer post in which Drake was touted as “the voice of a generation.” Notably, she agreed, adding a simple “because he is” when sharing the post.

“My eternal spirit animal has spoken,” Drake replied in an Instagram Stories update in which he also sprinkled an assortment of emoji. See the full exchange in context below.

Drake’s performance at the Apollo for SiriusXM drew a number of notable attendees, including Ice Spice, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Michael Rubin, Gayle King, and many more. Dipset and 21 Savage, meanwhile, were also brought onto the stage by Drake to the surprise of onlookers.

At one point, Drake teased that he might release a new project later this year.

“I’ve been thinking about a bunch of things in life, but right now none of those things are stopping you from making music for you,” Drake told the audience. “Then I’ll be here for you for a little while at least.” And I hope I can stir up more emotions for you, maybe this year. I might get bored and make another one, who knows.
