Hello.

Some time ago a reader described to me what she thought of the comic book page we once had in the newspaper. She saw it as the “fun page” – a daily destination to find lighter content. It was a contrasting place to the more serious news. It was a page where she regularly found articles that made her smile.

With the many challenges everyone has faced over the past few years, it really seems like the time has come to add some fun content to the diary in an effort to put smiles on faces.

So that’s what we did. We brought back the fun page.

From today, the comics page will run in all editions of the Daily News and The Freeman newspapers.

Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect:

DAILY COMIC PAGE: In today’s paper, you’ll actually find two pages of comics (pages 4B and 5B). Because we don’t post on Mondays, the front page will include comics and puzzles that would have been scheduled for Monday. The second page will include Tuesday’s content. Each Tuesday paper will have two comic pages.

As for the comics, we brought back Luann, Sally Forth, BC, The Duplex, and For Better Or For Worse. We’ve also added Charlie Brown and his friends in the Classic Peanuts comic.

Speed Bump and Real Life Adventures – two cartoons that were still running in the newspaper – will move to the comics page and be joined by Bizarro and Non Sequitur in a sort of Rogues gallery of comics single panel.

PUZZLES: We are also adding several puzzles. You’ll still find the same Thomas Joseph crossword puzzle on the comics page. It’s a bit reconfigured, it might take some getting used to. Please note that the additional crossword puzzle that was published in Saturday’s newspaper will now be published in Tuesday’s newspaper.

We still have a Sudoku puzzle on the comics page and we have added new puzzles such as Mini Crossword, Mini Sudoku, Word Sleuth word search and Cryptoquote.

Important tip: The previous solutions to most of these new little puzzles can be found in the lower right corner of the page.

HOROSCOPES: You will also find your daily horoscope on the comics page.

DEAR ANNE: Dear Annie’s advice column will be featured in each edition. On Tuesdays, the column will appear on the comics page, but it will appear on other pages of the newspaper the rest of the week.

SATURDAY COLOR COMICS: You will find two comic pages on Saturday. In addition to the daily comics page, the Saturday newspaper will also include the full-color weekend comics page.

This page will appear on the back of the Success section.

Weekly TV listings will move inside this section. Some personal finance Articles from the Success section will be moved to other locations in the newspaper regularly throughout the week.

The Weekend Comics color will include Frank & Ernest, Marmaduke, Heathcliff, The Lockhorns, and Ziggy. You’ll also find the Dilbert weekend cartoon in color (Dilbert also airs daily on the Company page) and once again Charlie Brown and his friends will appear in the color weekend cartoon Classic Peanuts.

The comics will no longer appear on our website now that they are back in the newspaper.

We sincerely hope you enjoy the return of comics and other fun content.

Please share this news with your friends and family.

We certainly can’t promise that everything we include in the document will make you smile, but today we’re happy to let you know that there’s at least one page that usually will. Enjoy the fun page!
