HOWARD COUNTY, MD – “Miss Electricity,” a children’s theater production, recently performed at select Howard County elementary schools. Brought to you by Howard Community College Student Theater, 10-year-old Violet insists on showing the world how special she is and accidentally becomes extraordinary when she’s struck twice by lightning and takes control of all things electrical. .

Now in its fifth year, HCC Student Theater presented its children’s theater production on tour to 10 elementary schools during the 2022-2023 season. The tour included seven students from HCC Theater who performed two shows at each of the participating schools.

“It is a pleasure to bring these exciting performances to Howard County Elementary School students,” said Bill Gillett, HCC Chair for Theatre, Dance and Audio-Video Production. “Not only is this a great educational opportunity for children in the audience, but the tour experience is also an incredible experiential learning opportunity for student performers.”

“The HCC Children’s Theater Production of Miss Electricity was a wonderful experience for the students of Talbott Springs Elementary School,” added Talbott Springs Elementary School Principal Nancy Thompson. “The talented performers encouraged imagination and creativity with their endearing and captivating performance. We are grateful for this partnership which exposes children to new artistic experiences.
